The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has decided to drop their proposed two-day Saturday/Sunday Mississippi River tournament ban. This was based largely on feedback received opposing this proposal. Vern Wagner, Minnesota B.A.S.S. Conversation Director, says "We need to join together politically to protect the resource, our sportfishing interests, and access. There is room for everyone on the river."

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources fisheries staff recently presented a proposed fisheries order that is expected to be signed in November to take effect April 1, 2006. This order also permits an early catch-and-immediate-release bass season and changes gear restrictions to make dropshotting partially legal.

Youth Corner

MG Lures will be sponsoring Adam Jorgenson (11-14 age group) from Fairmont, Minnesota and Don Brenhoffer (15-18 age group) from Belle Plain, Minnesota in the 2006 Jr. World Championship in February held in Florida. They will be paired with another Junior angler from a different state for this two-day event. Their boat driver will be one of the 2006 Bassmaster Classic contenders.
